    Bronzen Zandloopkever

The Northern dune tigre beetle (Cicindela hybrida) is a beetle in the family of Ground beetles(Carabidae). With a length of 14-20 mm iit is a larger specie. In contrast with the name(hybrida means crossbred) it is a true specie, one of approx. five Groundbeetles in the Netherlands. It can be recognized by the black-ish brown shields with lighter to white bands, ludicrous but symmetrical. They have large jaws and are fierce predators. It is fast running and catches all it can take, especially ants and other insects. Location: Voornes Duin
