Remarks: Common or Moorland hawkers are best determinated by excluding other species. Simular species are the Arctic, Siberian and Baltic hawkers. In the UK, the Moorland hawker is the most common of these four species.

Brown chest with two yellow stripes, black T on the forehead and two small patches on the shoulders. The male's abdomen is patched with yellow and blue.
